<hi style=afpcap>The first aircraft type in the pursuit category was the Curtiss P-1 which was produced during the mid 1920's. The P-1C, depicted here, formed the largest single order for a pursuit design at the time, with 33 aircraft. The aircraft was fitted with skis for operations in the northern United States during the winter months.</hi>
